Combine the spectacular East Texas venue, Villa di Felicita, with the late afternoon spring sun and it's hard to imagine there's a better way or place to meet and greet your favorite country star, particularly when that star is Lindale's Miranda Lambert.
The blonde beauty hosted the charity gig, titled Miranda Lambert's Cause for the Paws Wine Festival & Concert, in May and helped raise $118,000 for the Humane Society of East Texas.
A sold-out 600 fans, including their "ultimate fans," the Junk Gypsies from College Station, were rewarded with an opportunity to take part in what some describe as a "garden party" that is very up close and personal.
There were opportunities for fans to have their picture taken with the headliners of the event, Lambert and Blake Shelton as well as two up-and-coming singer-songwriters Adam Hood and Kacey Musgraves.
And if that wasn't enough, Lambert's event provided an opportunity for Texas wineries to show off their fine wines. They ranged from the Llano Estacado of the high plains of West Texas and Fall Creek in the Hill Country, to the East Texas wineries, KE Cellars, Los Pinos and Miranda's own Red 55 Winery.
The event included both silent and live auctions, with local celebrity auctioneer and Smith County Sheriff J. B. Smith handling the live auction.
The Humane Society of East Texas Executive Director Gayle Helms said Lambert is coming back again next year. The date will depend on her schedule.
