Butterflies, Bees & More

If you enjoy watching butterflies practice touch-and-go landings and takeoffs then you’ll love East Texas
Friends of the Preserve and Wood County Master Gardeners combined ideas and efforts and together they’ve created an area of native grasses, plants and trees that attract an ever-growing number of butterflies, bees and birds to the nature preserve in Mineola.
And for those who have a difficult time with mobility, the good news is, it’s within 30 feet of the parking lot.
Bring your basket lunch or supper and enjoy eating in the pavilion atop the hill, walk the short distance to the native plant area and relax. Bring a camera. It’s a can’t-miss opportunity to take some up close pictures you’ll enjoy viewing for years to come.
